Each sandtray measures 19.5 by 28.5 by 3.5 inches (inside measurements are 19 x 28 x 3 inches), which is the standard established by Dora Kalff. The size is based on what the individual can see without turning one's head. This way, the sandtray encompasses their field of vision. It becomes the world.

The tray is painted blue on the inside to depict water and sky. The outside is stained and varnished. The tray is suitable for dry and wet sand.
